Company Background
Muangmai Motor Phuket Co. Ltd - a company
under the Muangmai Group of companies - engages in a range
of businesses comprising of gas service stations, car dealerships,
rubber plantations rubber processing factories and real estate
development.
The Muangmai Group of companies are run by
the Tantipiriyakij family, who derived the names of all the companies
in the group from the name of their original family home location
- being in the village of Muangmai in the district of Thalang,
Phuket.
In 1938, the Tantipiriyakij family started a rubber
plantation at the family home and opened a sales venue, naming
themselves Muangmai Commerce. After some time the family's
position rose and Mr Tantipiriyakij was elected as village head
for Muangmai Moo1, Tambol Maikao, Amphur Thalang, Phuket.
In 1958, under the name of Muangmai Commerce, the
company opened their first gas service business on Thepkassetri
Road. 15 years later saw the company's venture into motor dealership.
The company's experience led them - 20 years later
in 1993 - to be granted Volvo dealership and service rights for
5 provinces in the south of Thailand from Swedish Motors Co.,
LTD, and the company now known as Muangmai Motor Phuket Co., LTD
was born and headed by Managing Director, Mr Piriya Tantipiriyakij.
With the opening of the company's offices and new
showrooms on Thepkassetri Road, in 1994, the business has expanded
to include dealership of Chrysler Jeep cars.
